“New data from from the Council of Mortgage Lenders has revealed that gross buy-to-let advances during February hit 15,900 loans, a figure 13% down against January’s total but up 11% when compared year-on-year. These loans represented £2.2bn of lending – down 12% from January but 16% up compared to February 2014. The number of buy-to-let loans for house purchase was 7,400 in February, down 3% on January but 1% up on February 2014. These loans represented a value of £900m, a decrease of 10% month-on-month but up 3% year-on-year compared to February 2014.”
“Residential rents across the UK are 10.2% higher than a year ago and have increased in 11 out of 12 regional in the first quarter of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014. The average rent on a tenancy signed in the UK during the first quarter of 2015 was £902, compared to £819 for tenancies signed during the first quarter of 2014. Rents are higher in every region of the UK except Wales compared to a year ago.”
“The hunt is on for a development partner to build a new student accommodation block containing more than 300 apartments in Birmingham city centre. Benacre Properties has received the green light to turn the Gallan Group car park, on the corner of Pershore and Upper Dean streets near the Wholesale Markets, into a mixed-use scheme containing 323 studios, five commercial units totalling 7,530 sq ft and bike and car parking.”
