“The cost of buying a home for first time buyers in the UK is £670 a year lower than renting, according to new research by the Halifax. The average monthly costs associated with buying a three bedroom house in the UK for a first time buyer was £666 in June 2015, some 8% lower than the typical monthly rent paid on the same property type which was £722 a month.”
“The number of house hunters registered per estate agency branch is at the highest level in 11 years. Reporting on July, the NAEA said there was a further 5% rise in the number of applicants – an average of 462 per branch compared to 439 in June. This is the highest recorded figure since August 2004 when an average 582 house hunters were recorded per branch.”
“Birmingham City University is continuing its major campus expansion programme with more plans to build new teaching facilities. The institution has lodged new proposals to construct a £41 million, 113,000 sq ft base to house a completely new school of life sciences and a relocated school of education. The building, in Westbourne Road on its City South campus in Edgbaston, would enable the university to offer a wide range of new health, nutrition, biomedical science and sports courses.”
